MidNight Sun Platinum and Diamond Earrings

Winner of Lonmin Design Innovation Award 2013 The Midnight Sun Earrings have been designed with the ‘New Frontiers’ concept in mind, and feature platinum and pave set white diamonds. The earrings are tear drop shaped, with a rounded smooth edge, which is in contrast to the sharp, jagged edges of the centre. The shards have been adorned with white diamonds, to give the piece its sense of glamour and style. The ‘New Frontiers’ brief inspired us to create a futuristic, modernist piece of Jewellery. When we thought about new frontiers we had ideas of space and our solar system, which created contrasting visions of rounded planets, and the jagged surfaces of the planets and meteors. It was the moon that truly caught our imagination, with its huge craters and ‘dark side’; it is also the light that we see shining through the night, hence the name ‘Midnight Sun’.
